TeamworkToday was the first time I've ever encountered a conflict that split the team apart. I'm usually the one to carry out the role of the team leader but this was the first team where I was a plain member. We were in a team of 5.
You can say there was a harsh shouting match in front of many students near a cafe... The fight was of 2 of the team members yelling their heads off about one of them not doing "enough" work. The team even discredited him in the presentation and forced him to sit in the audience while we presented! HOW COLD IS THAT?! I tried 2 times to reason it out. He's been sick so he hasn't been to a few meetings. At a meeting I wasn't able to attend, he suddenly got a nose bleed and he said "If I don't show up tomorrow, don't be surprised because I might be in the hospital." There were a couple of meetings where the rest of the team couldn't make it, but only him and I could. Sooo that means the team did not witness him working much because of that as well.
The team uses skype and cellphones to communicate about meetings and whatnot. I actually had to see their laptops to know that they used skype and not MSN. He and I use MSN for the past projects in other classes. I have not used skype in previous projects before. My way to communicate with the team was plain emailing and texting. Emailing doesn't get questions across very effectively because it's not in real-time. He said he didn't read the emails that says what all the team meetings are. The team said that that's his fault.
I guess the whole issue is due to miscommunication. There was no set communication link between us all. The prof and TA wish to discuss this on wed morning... -.-
Bitter joke... at least I can now answer that interview question: "How did you do in a conflict amongst your boss or co-workers/team members?"
